F T/R Competition thoughts needed

If I used a bag rider on my savage FTR model rifle using a front rest, how well would this set up do if I wanted to get a switch barrel? I have a rear bag that fits my stock nicely too


Just wandering thoughts on how well this set up might work for FOpen?

I scored for a guy who won the TN state championship in a McMillan stock with a bag rider plate on the front last yr. It should work fine.

Thanks for the info. I shot it off the rest with my 308 factory barrel and it seemed ok. Just was not sure about other calibers and actually being good at tracking

With a 308 you should be shooting F-TR. Front rests are not allowed in F-TR, only bipods. Unless, you want to shoot F-Open. If you go up against F-Open their rifles can weigh 3 lbs more and they can shoot any cartridge as long as its less than .35 caliber.

yes I know I have been shooting off my Duplin bipod. This was asked because was thinking about getting switch barrel to shoot Fclass. But was not sure if this was a good idea or not with this stock and bag rider

And I'm sure other's will disagree, but think of the good FTR shooters scores and ability to read the wind and load good loads, what they might could do off a front rest

What caliber do you want to shoot? The F-Class Savages don't cost too much.

I just bought this Savage FTR 308

Switch barrel will most likely be 6Dasher or a 284win
