I had built a "precision" upper a couple years back. It has a Wilson SS 1/8 match barrel that's right around 16" long YHM FF rail, upper that was trued on lathe. It shoots 1/2 moa with the hornady 75 bthp but loses velocity fast. It's still a great shooter at 600 yards but goes a bit crazy much after that.
Well, I have a chance to "upgrade" my upper for about 75 bucks. It'd be a 24" Wilson 1/8 SS Match. 15" MI FF rail, .936 low profile gas block, and I'd have the upper trued again (Hellbender if you read this, I love ya buddy!)
So, would it be worth it ya think? The extra 8" would help my velocity a ton and allow me to stretch past 600.
