Sidearms & Scatterguns Thoughts on the Ruger 1911?

Cast frame and full of MIM parts. If you can live with that, then go for it.

You can generally find Springfield Loaded's with forged frames for 700 brand new, maybe less used. Kimber Custom II's can also be had for $700 and they have forged frames. I lean towards forged frames for 1911's personally, especially if you think you may want to customize it down the road.

At the 600 or under price point you can generally find STI Trojans, Rock Island Tactical, Remington R1 and probably a few others. Cast frames on all of those.

Pretty hard to beat for the price point, MIM parts or not. We've had a couple now for about 3 years, I bought a couple for my son and I when I could get them, they are not that easy to get these days. Trigger pull on both these is pretty decent, not quite as good as any of my Gold Cups but better than a Kimber or regular Colt 1911.

We've kinda put these thru the mill, they have done alright, and had no issues. Makes it pretty easy to carry a stainless 1911, at half the price of a Colt, but shoots pretty good. This one is about to take a rotation in the daily carry ( Ruger LCP, Colt Defender, Gold Cup and H&K P2000) I like it.

Heck, at the price, buy it, shoot it, trade it later if you don't like it.
