Hey all,

I'm in the market for my first serious optic. I really like the RAZOR, and have found a decent deal on a used one. I'm unsure on the reticle though.

I'm hoping to shoot some PRS type matches here on the east cost next season. So, general use would be 100-800yrds.

The subject scope is in MRAD. Planned platform is a .308 that I currently own, so the hold over will come into play at distance.

Should I be passing on this and looking for the more typical "christmas tree" reticle such as the EBR-2C?

I'd rather spend more now on glass that I can grow into as I get more experience and training, so I don't want to handicap myself with the reticle right off the bat.

Thoughts?

I’ve got scopes with both the erb-1 and erb-2c reticles. If you are dialing elevation, either are fine. If you find yourself holding off in both elevation and wind, the erb-2c really shines. Eurooptic is/was running a clearance on viper pst scopes with MRAD erb-2c reticle. I’ve got a razor on my match rifle, but the vipers aren’t slouches.

This is a timely thread. I'm torn b/c two Vortex models which looked great in the store: Vortex Viper HS-T SFP 6-24 with VMR 1 MOA reticle and The Strike Eagle 4-24 EBR 4. Looking to use at 600 to hopefully well beyond depending on facilities. Thanks for any input

@Ryan7839 -- what other reticles and scopes are you looking at ? The Vortex EBR line has been well received by many. It is not my choice, but that is why there is chocolate and vanilla.

In shooting, I like to tell people that your accuracy and comfort starts with the barrel, and then the scope. In the scope area, before you get to the technicals, the reticle is most important to be comfortable with. I think some people get comfortable with a reticle because of price. For example, Vortex has many brands and quality and price points. We are, in fact, a large Vortex dealer. But, i personally find the EBR series to be thick and a work around for the better reticles. I may be full of shit. Your preference is what matters.

I think the EBR-2 is better than the EBR-4. But, I like some of the other reticles a whole lot more. The Mil-C from NF. Amazing. if you like Hourus, the H59 and T3 are incredible. If you like simplicity, the P4Fine with S&B is hard to beat. Then, you have the MR4 and MR5 at Minox and the SKMR3 at Kahles.

My recommendation is to first expand your search to the 'art of the possible' with reticles, and then see what they cost, and look more realistically to come back and narrow your search to within your budget.
