Hi there guys.

I'm in the process of purchasing an AAC 762-SD and will be using it on my LMT MRP (5.56mm) and a .300/.221 (whisper) upper, both of which have the 1/2x28 threads. Anybody have a source for a thread adapter at a good price? Maybe $35 is a good price, I really don't know. But it there are good ones out there for $12 I'd do that. Just thought I'd see what you all thought on the subject.

Good price but out of stock ($25):

Decent price and fairly local ($35):

Isnt the 762 SD a fast attach can? If so I do believe that you can use an 18 tooth mount already threaded 1/2 28 instead of 5/8 24 and no need for an adapter, just but the correctly threaded QD mount and it takes one more spot for potential error out of the question.

Tros USA also makes some high quality adapters. He will make them any way you want and they are guaranteed concentric. A fellow board member and friend of mine has one he uses for his Omega 30 and it fits perfectly. Just remember when using a thread adapter you need to check it frequently to make sure it is not working loose.

Re: Thread adapter (.30 cal can on a AR barrel)

Thanks for the heads up guys. If I wasn't prejudiced against the blackout flash hider, I would easily purchase a ready made mount. But I buying a suppressor to shoot quietly. I want to reduce as much noise as possible, as indicated by my choice of having an upper in .300 whisper. Therefore, I do not want to add any unnecessary sound. The Blackout FH may suppress flash very well, but I will be using a suppressor, so I don't care. I want it quiet and I don't want a metallic ring or a tuning fork hum that often accompanies suppressed fire attached to a blackout.

I have one old-school (pre-blackout) 18T flash hider mount that I bought used.

What I REALLY want, though, is to use the AAC 18T muzzle break which they do not thread in 1/2x28. It's advantage over the older style (and hard to find) flash hider is that the muzzle break acts as an extra blast baffle and protects the suppressor. This might not make a huge difference in practice, but it seems like a sound theory as explained to me by Byron of Major Malfunction.

Besides that, I would be happy to just purchase another pre-blackout 18T flash hider, if I can find one.

Thanks for your help,
Nate

Really want to trust your can to a $12 part?

These are nice too:
