Throwing in the towel. Which smith would you use?

Up until now, I've built/maintained all of my AR's.

I bought a rifle with a 9.0 Larue rail already installed.

I wanted a longer rail (for aesthetics) so I purchased a 11.0 Larue rail with the intent of putting the 9.0 on my Mk18 clone.

My thinking was I could just put the new rail on the barrel nut already installed on the upper and use the new barrel nut and old rail on the Mk18.

Here's the problem, the 9.0 rail won't slide off (low-pro gas block is too big to fit through the opening). I figured I'd just spin off the flash hider and remove the gas block, but the flash hider appears to be permanently attached.

So I'm looking for someone to do whatever is necessary to get these rails on their respective uppers.

Who do you guys recommend? All the necessary parts should be there (unless a different gas block needs to be used on the Mk18).

Get with Steve and the fine smiths at ADCO...I've used them several times over the years on jobs I wasn't comfortable with, as well as for a complete custom upper build and they are a first-rate outfit all around, plus their prices are very reasonable and their turnaround on jobs like what you need should be less than 2 weeks max (usually more like a week, plus shipping time).

A friend of mine had Short Action Customs build him a 6.5 Grendel, and he is marveously happy with both the accuracy, and reliability.

Pretty high praise coming from someone like him who has a very critical view toward firearms. Probably because he has used them in harms way for some time...(firearms, not the short action custom rifle.)
