Thanks for the video gents. Very impressive numbers. I fully expected the Magnus to be equally quiet as the 338 ultra but I guess the larger bore diameter didn't hurt.

@TBACRAY

For 308 and 223

For bolt gun

How does one choose between the Dominus, Magnus, ultra series?

Dominus is shorter than ultra so the recoil is different?

Magnus is larger than both above?

How does one choose between SR, hub, CB?

Does the equation change for semi's?

The SR mount is our full-auto capable mount that has "bolt gun" type accuracy. If you need high rates of fire or want a secondary lock, the SR mount is what you want. Otherwise for almost all more sedate firing schedules, the CB/BA (or even HUB) mount is fine. The CB and BA mounts (BA only applies to the non-SR 338 Ultra at this point) are taper style "thread over muzzle brake" mounts that are very stiff and pretty compact. HUB is for people who already have a system they are happy with for mounting and want to use our can on that system-- we do not specifically recommend it for particular applications*; it's for expert users. *The only exception to this is the FLY45, which has a HUB rear end sandwiched behind the booster it ships with so you can get a 11/16 direct thread/HUB adpater to shoot it on your .45-70.

The Dominus-SR was designed as a battle rifle or m4/Mk18 suppressor and has a full auto rating when it's built with the SR mount system (see web site for specific firing schedule and a video of the full evolution). In short, it's a lightweight titanium can that can take F/A. The Dominus-K-SR is the shorter version of the exact same suppressor for those people who want less than about 6.25-6.4" added to the OAL of their MK18 or whatever.

The Dominus-CB loses the F/A rating because it has the CB mount instead of SR, but is otherwise the same. It suppresses identically to the Ultra 7 Gen2 or +/- 1-2 dB depending on cartridge, but basically the same. You can think of it as an Ultra 7 that is 0.75" shorter but fatter (1.8" vs. 1.5"), so just a format change of the same suppression.

The Ultra 5, 7, and 9 are all 1.5" diameter cans. The Ultra 5 is the shortest we could go and still get "Ok" suppression. The Ultra 7 is probably our most popular can in general, and our most popular hunting can, because it suppresses well but is still pretty compact and very light. The Ultra 9 is still the quietest in the 1.5" diameter format, but unless the diameter of the can matters, the Magnus-CB is a 1:1 replacement that is a LOT quieter and the same length.

The Magnus is when you want the quietest .30 cal can, period. The only thing we make quieter is the 338 Ultra Gen2, which is longer and more expensive. The Magnus is also available in the SR mount version, which gives the Magnus-SR the same F/A rating and secondary retention as the Dominus-SR.

In terms of strength and ratings, the Magnus is the strongest, followed by the Ultra, followed by the Dominus. You can see this in the minimum length barrel ratings for different magnum calibers. This confuses some people who think the Dominus should be stronger than the Ultra for shorter magnum barrels because of its F/A ating, but they have a different structure and geometry and the Dominus-SR was optimized for surviving the MK18 F/A firing schedule and weight, while the Ultra was designed to be strong enough to handle almost all magnum rifle cartridges when used at the minimum reasonable (or less than reasonable) barrel lengths.

Hope this helps
