Someone was asking me the other day about the lifespan of a suppressor. It’s something I never really gave much thought about, especially on a precision bolt gun as it should last a long long time. With that being said, I love my 30P-1 and was wondering if anyone has actually worn one of these bad boys out? I assume, like barrels that they could eventually erode...eventually. Any idea of round count where one might see some degradation? @Zak Smith. I figure you got more rounds on a 30P-1 than anyone. Thoughts? Maybe this is a stupid late night question. Haha.

I have a 30CB9 and I have others too so I haven't used it exclusively, but I'm sure it'll outlive me on a .300BLK. Damn thing still looks new. Rifle cans, centerfire cans in general, tend not to gunk up IME. Not like .22 shit, which needs constant cleaning just so it'll remain cleanable!

There's a pressure washer wand you can get that is just a tube with a zero tip drilled in the side near the end so it shoots 90deg. from the front. You can stick it in a can and twist it around and back and forth and it'll blast shit stuck to the sides. Where to get one or what they make 'em for I don't know. I suppose one could also be made pretty cheap if you have a pressure washer and some time and a few parts.

My DA Ti is rated for 50k rounds. I bought 2 ultra 9’s so my round counts would take longer and be on more than 1 can. What about sending your in for a recore if it’s really high ?

That's about 39 grand in Winchester 308. Proportionally, replacing the silencer would be a menial concern imo, and obviously especially when paying to poke with the larger ELR calibers.

We've never seen a 30P-1 that was worn out. It's much more likely someone will get it gunked up with carbon. A can with 8 ounces of carbon taking up volume will be a lot louder, but will go back to being quiet after it's gotten out (and at that point, it takes a lot of cleaning to get there).

Short 5.56 SBR's are hard on cans. The 556 TAKE DOWN was designed to maintain the original suppression level to 20,000 rounds on 10" bbls with regular rotation of the baffles (that was the 8-mag rapid/burst/full-auto firing schedule). After that you'd see some slow degradation of dB performance over time. But we designed that one with baffles that could be replaced at the factory very easily and cheaply.

Just out of curiosity would it be frowned upon to spray it down with brake cleaner to get rid of/dissolve the carbon?
