Suppressors Ti-Rant vs. Osprey?

Re: Ti-Rant vs. Osprey?

I get to shoot both of them side by side all the time. Usually I would shoot both of them in a enclosed room and ask the people if they can tell the difference. Usually it's a 50/50 split.

The TiRant has a more even tone throughout the firing session. The Osprey has a loud first round pop but is very quiet on the following shots.

Re: Ti-Rant vs. Osprey?

John over at silencerresearch.com has performed a head-to-head comparison complete with photos, videos, and decibel measurements. If you are unfamiliar with his site....it costs $30 to access the info.

A lot of people hate the website, others swear by it...you can make that decision yourself. I just thought you should know someone has definitively answered your question.

Yep! Very true. Unfortunately, most people don't understand that the sound meter measures maximum pressure but fails to give information on tone, frequency, sound dissipation, etc. Plus there are many variables at play here. Different host weapons, ammo, environment, etc. can all change results.

FWIW, I agree with your assessment and have similar experiences. I've shot the Osprey and TiRant side by side on similar hosts (full size 1911s and Sig P220s). I agree that the Osprey has a more noticeable FRP. Both are very quiet though. The Osprey does not obscure my factory sights on these hosts. The TiRant does obscure the front sight but not by much and shooting with both eyes open still allows for accurate target engagement.

Both suppressors have been 100% reliable on my personally owned host weapons and have been reliable on other hosts I've used including HKs and Glocks.

Both suppressors are manufactured by top tier companies with excellent customer support.

Re: Ti-Rant vs. Osprey?

I have never shot the cans wet so I can't say about wet performance. The real test of how well a suppressor performs is shooting it dry.

This man knows what he's talking about!!!

BookHound, I always enjoy reading your posts, thank you for that and keep up the good work.

Re: Ti-Rant vs. Osprey?

The Osprey is FAR more modular where one can can accept all different threads with the reasonably priced booster. Easier to see the sights. And the that the back ends is the registered part.

Even if it was a touch louder than it actually is rated at, I would have still ordered one.

P.S. The Tirant looks awesome.

Re: Ti-Rant vs. Osprey?

What do you mean more modular? Both suppressors can down convert on calibers. The new TiRants can be taken apart to be cleaned, if you fancy that kind thing.

I was also referring to the shape.
