So i bought 100 pieces of 2x fired lapua 6br brass off another hide member.

immediately i noticed the neck walls looked much thicker than my current brass. 0.014" vs. 0.011" on my 4x fired brass.

my chambers neck is .270"

my loaded ammo with the NEWer "thick" brass is .269-.2695" so only a thou smaller than my chamber.

whereas with my regular lot of brass i'm at .267" (process: .265 bushing then run over mandrel to expand back to .267)

is that going to cause any major issue? i haven't shot it yet. i loaded up 10 rounds to shoot this afternoon.

worrying about:

accuracy (easily testable)
hot and or wet days. (also technically testable i suppose)

I know i could turn the necks down- but i don't want to get the stuff to do that for a lousy 100 pieces of brass.
i could also just get rid of the brass and move on. but if it's not going to be an issue - i'll roll with it.

don't worry about it and just shoot? or could i have potential issues in adverse conditions? i shoot PRS matches and don't want any surprises!

also, what caused me to look at the necks closely was the brass was a BITCH to size.

the shoulders were already where they needed to be for my gun. but i need to size the necks back down. so i ran them through my die. they were hard to go in, and hard to come out. it was actually stretching the shoulder back out.

so i actually had to run the brass through TWICE to get everything where it needed to be.

THEN... when i tried chambering a piece of brass - there was resistance from the neck going into the chamber, sometimes even not closing at all and deforming the neck. so I chamfered inside and out the neck, and it chambered fine after that.

loaded rounds chamber fine as well.

Sounds like the used brass you bought was some of the 'old' stuff that came in the gold cardboard boxes. Back then, .272" was very common for no-turn necks in a 6 BR. Your chamber was probably set up to be no-turn for the new stuff that comes in the blue plastic boxes.

Probably gonna need to either do some light neck-turning, or re-home that stuff.

ahh. i sent a message to the seller and asked if he knew what box it was (old or new stuff). waiting for a reply

that's unfortunate. probably just gonna take the hit and move it.

Yeah, I'd likely pass that brass along or neck turn it.

Clearance on the neck is too tight IMO for a field gun where dirt/carbon etc are a factor. If it takes a chamfer debur to chamber the brass then you know it's super tight.

Plus even if the clearance were fine you're going to have dramatically different neck tension than your other brass.
