Okay, so I bought a Tikka 300wsm and it's been great. The problem is that it isn't that enjoyable to shoot and it's costing me a fortune in ammunition. Worse yet, no local stores carry it so it's an hour or so drive to BPS to purchase.

If I wanted to have it re-chambered in 6.5 creedmoor, what would it take to accomplish that? I'm in Arkansas and I've never had a need for gunsmithing. Does anyone have a ballpark estimate on what price I'd be looking at? I love the Tikka action but I'm not ready to buy another one if I can change it to a 6.5cm affordably. Thanks in advance.

You can do the barrel swap yourself if you are decently handy. Multiple companies make shouldered prefit barrels for the tikka including proof research who makes a carbon or Stainless prefit. After that you will need a barrel vise and action wrench to remove and reinstall the barrel.

The harder part will be swapping bolts as the 300wsm uses a larger bolt face than the 6.5 Creedmoor. The bolts are difficult to find in stock and not cheap. They are out of stock now but here is the website where I have had the best luck finding them:

At the end of the day you will probably spend close to as much changing that one around as you would just buying a new rifle but the option is definitely there!

I'd buy this:

I had to source a bolt for a customer once. Old bolt was fine, but corrosion / pitting, so wanted a new one. Rang Beretta (Australian tikka supplier) and we ended up buying a whole new gun. Polished old bolt, spiral flutes, cerakote, good to go. Now has 2 guns.
