I just received and installed the Atlasworx DBM bottom metal, mainly because of the availability and price of the AICS mags vs the factory Tikka mags. If using the Magpul mags, the design and dimensions of the Tikka action require that the Magpul mags be modified by filing/grinding down the lips at the top of the mag.
Is this just a requirement for the Magpul mags, or is the Tikka going to require that any AICS used have to be modified in some way to be useable.
I want to know before I go grinding and filing on perfectly good mags. If the standard AICS metal mags will work without modification, I'll go that way and use the Magpuls in another firearm.

I should add that mine is a short action.

I never could get the magpul mags to work in my CDI bottom metal for my Tikka. AICS, Accurate and ARC mags work great without any modification to magazine. I did need to trim the mag release some, but this is common.

That's what I was looking for. I can pick up a couple of metal AICS mags for the Tikka. I have three Rem 700s that are all in calibers that use the .308 parent case. I can put the CDI bottom metal in those and have one batch of AICS mags that will work in any of the three.
There was just something about having to modify the polymer mags that just didn't set well with me.
