G’day from Australia.
I have been offered a MDT Oryx Chassis from a Tikka T3x Centerfire for a good price .
Will this stock fit my T1x rimfire ?
I realise that MDT make a specific T1x Oryx stock , but here in Australia there are no T1x Oryx stocks in the country according to the importer and they will only bring one in on special order which will take months .
What are the differences between the T1x and T3x Oryx stocks , does anyone know ?
Any advice or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

The first chassis I had for my Tikka was an Oryx for a T3x. You do have to notch the area between the trigger well and magazine well inside to get clearance for the screw that holds the magwell onto the action. It was a really simple process. I started with a thin cutoff wheel and cut straight down then finished it with a file. If I remember right it was a little less than 1/2 inch, but that was a while ago so I would measure to be sure. I also had remove the magazine catch (one pin) and file down the back of the magazine a little bit because the hump on the back was hitting the chassis before it was fully seated. Ill see if I can find some pictures later.
Overall, its a pretty easy task and when done the chassis can still be used with a T3x.

Thank you for the reply.
You have put my mind at ease and I think I’ll get the T3x chassis.
Any photos or more in-depth advice would be appreciated.
The hump on the mag is an interesting development and one that I wouldn’t have considered.
The advantage of still being able to use it for a T3x is good because I do own a 6.5 Creedmoor T3x , but have no plans to put it in a chassis because it’s a hunting rifle.

Cheers

I just dug through my old pictures and I can't find the ones of the inside of the chassis if I ever took any. Unfortunately that chassis was sold a while ago and I cant take any now. Hopefully someone else can come along, but its just a square notch. Measure from the base of the action to the top of the screw holding the magwell on.
For the magazines, I think I had to take a little over 1/8 in. off the back and I just did it with a file. It didint hurt the magazine in anyway because there is plenty of material there. Just take your time, take a little off and test fit.
