Alright guys, I took your advise and I will bed the recoil lug in the stock, now I am in need of one last thing. I'm in the process of bedding this Tikka and I have measured as accurately as I can and have come up with the following measurements:
front pillar length- .870"
rear pillar length- 1.340"

The pillars are .500" OD and .312" ID aluminum. I just need the correct length to function the magazine.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: Tikka pillar lengths

You can try the exact math method... or:

you can leave them wild and dress them with an end mill under the bottom plastic

you can cut them short and bed over them with Devcon when you bed the bottom plastic

The last 2 are way easier.

Re: Tikka pillar lengths

I figured that, I was hoping someone had made their own pillars and measured them (saves me time). I just measure and cut. I guess that is okay.
I have figured out what I will do, I need to have mag clearance, so I will cut and measure and cut and measure until I have the proper distance and mag function, then bed them to the stock and match the stock to the pillars (I prefer to have the bottom metal in contact w/ the pillars).

Sorry. I hate it when somebody answers the question, I didn't ask.

You could PM Pete Lincoln. He does a lot of work on Tikka's. Not a lot of guys here in the states have a lot of experience that I've found.
