Okay,
So I understnad one of the big benefits of having a larger barrel diameter is to have heat not be as big of a factor in firing rounds. While this seems to make a big difference in 30 cal and larger calibers, is it that important in a .223?
I am interested in getting a lightweight/trainer rifle in .223 and have been wooed by the smoothness and guaranteed 1 MOA accuracy of a tikka.

That being said, I like the the price of lite.

Let me know if there is something I am missing.

Get the Lite, and if you decide you don't like it, use some of the $300 you saved over getting the varmint and have it rebarrelled with exactly the length and contour you want.

Good choice in going with the Tikka, they are excellent rifles.

Thanks for the advice. Makes it pretty much a no-brainer.
The lightness was appealing for me...have a 700 in an aiax chassis and it weights a ton!!
