I have done a search and I have seen several threads regarding this stock. I have even talked to Tom in regards to purchasing a couple. I have a Tikka T-3 Lite .308. My question is does anybody have a T-3 Lite model in a Manners MCS-T4 that can post some pics (with the factory barrel). The barrel on mine has less than 20rds through it and I hate to have it rebarreled before purchasing this stock. However, I would like to know what it is going to look like if I decided to keep the factory lite barrel on it and put it in the MCS-T4.

Additionally, if I choose to have it re-barreled (which I would want to have done prior to ordering the stock as I would need to have the barrel channel inletted for that particular contour barrel) what are the factory Tikka recoil lugs threaded for? Do they have metric threads or standard? In one of the post I read they might be 1"-16tpi but couldn't find any info to back this up. Does anybody know?

Also, what would be a good contour barrel to put on a rifle like this assuming I still wanted to use if for hunting purposes? Although, I would like something heavier than what is on it if I choose to have it re-barreled and a faster twist rate? This rifle will also see some range time for-what-it's-worth. Thanks for any input.

I might be wrong but it looks like Manners show a standard weight barrel mounted in their T4, see below. It also says on there that the stock can take barrels up to 1.35" dia. I bought the T3 varmints as they are light enough to hunt with but also do a good job on the range. Just waiting for delivery of a T4 stock for one of em...

Target,

This is my T3 with a #5 contour in 22". With a lighter scope and no bipod, it would be fine for hunting. I did hunt with this rig this year. Fine for short hikes, but a little heavy for thoses epic mule deer hunts.

IIRC, the barrel threads are metric.

John thanks for the reply. I have few questions:
-Is that the factory barrel that came on the Tikka or did you have it rebarreled?
-Is that the varmint model or the Lite model? Just trying to get a comparison on barrel size compared to my .308 Lite factory barrel.
-If you had it rebarreled did you go w/ a standard Remington type recoil lug?
-Were barrel threads on the original barrel metric or standard? I read somewhere were they were 1"x16tpi but could not verify this.

Sorry for all of the questions just trying to decide if I want to keep the facotry lite barrel or have it rebarreled in a heavier contour and faster twist before I order the MCS-T4 for it.

Thanks.

Re: Tikka T3 Lite w/ Manners MCS-T4

That's a T3 Lite with a #5 McGowen Precision handlapped match barrel. I replaced the stock barrel after it was too worn to hold groups. It's .700" at the the muzzle, the stock barrel was .625 IIRC. It's also a much straighter taper than the stock profile, so it's much beefier in the area in front of the chamber. Much stiffer than the stock barrel, and since it's a 300WM, doesn't walk as muck shot to shot with heat. It probably falls somewhere between the Lite and Tactical profiles.

I put on a Tubb's 700 style lug when it was rebarreled. MUCH better.

I'm fairly certain that my smith told me that the threads were metric. You could PM William Roscoe or Pete Lincoln to be sure.
