Honestly the best muzzle brake are threaded, and there just isnt much "meat" at the muzzle for a 5/8x24 threaded brake. There are some clamp on brakes, but with the constant force of gasses that brake will just end up downrange.
I have two T3 Lites (30-06 and 7mm mag) and will admit that the recoil is a bit much. On the 7mm Mag I use a limbsaver recoil pad and it really takes some of the punch out. My 30-06 only weighs 7 lbs with a 2-7x33 Redfield and there is definitely some sting, I kept the original hard pad to maintain the correct LOP. IMHO muzzle brakes are frickin loud and obnoxious, unless your intention is to clear out the range when you shoot.
