I found one of these gems at the local gun store in the used section this weekend and asked them to set it aside for the gunsmith to take a look at. I am a little worried about buying a used 22-250 so he is going to look at the throat and see how it looks.
My question for you guys is with the 1-14 twist, what is the heaviest bullet it will stabilize?
I'm in the middle of buying all the parts and materials needed to start reloading and have a decent idea of what the faster twist stuff will handle in 223 and 308, but the slow twist stuff is fairly new to me.
I know the t3 varmints are almost nonexistent and I will almost certainly pick this up if its not shot out, but some info from the guys that run these or similar would be great. I have a t3 varmint in 223 that is brand new that I'm thinking of having AI'd and would probably do the same to this one as well.
Now that I'm done rambling my questions are:
What will a 1-14 stabilize?
What kind of range am I realistically looking at with the heaviest bullet for hunting purposes like coyote and prairie dogs?
Is there any downside to AI'ing a 22-250 other than some loss of barrel life?
If someone has one of these, what kind of factory loaded ammo has it liked? I will save brass for reloading later so that matters some but will probably buy either lapua or win brass later.
Any other bits of info on this would be great, I realize this isn't a hunting/varmint forum but I know some of you guys got this shit
Oh yea, I'll be running a TBAC 30p-1 on it almost all of the time if it matters.
Thanks guys.
