Gday guys, I recently purchased a Tikka Tac a1 in .308
Having issues getting comfortable on the bench and not liking the rear adjustable cheek rest. Has anyone swapped out the cheek rest for a better alternative? And also what ammo is everyone running. Cheers!

This will help alot.

Tikkas have chambers that will run just about anything. They will shoot as accurate as the ammo you put in them, but tend to be on the slow side.

What are you not liking about it? I thought the rest was actually pretty nice and had good adjustability, unless I had to shoot it left handed.

Death, I hope my new 223 is not slow. That will be a bummer, I want longer and faster.

can confirm pretty slow! I dropped 2" of barrel and still picked up speed when I rebarreled my action.

That will suck enormous donkey cock if I loose speed from my 5R, thanks for the warning.

What does that saddle blanket do? Improve the existing one?..$15 if it helps anything is worth it.

My cheek riser cracked, I used this to replace it. They are about 1/2” wider than original at the bolt on point so you need spacers. I stopped at the local hardware store and picked up two 1/4” spacers and put it on. If you wanted to shift it one way or the other you could grab the 1/8” ones and put 3 on a side and 1 on the other.

My 223 Tikka has been amazing and we have been able to load 88 grain ELD's and get them stabilized, which I couldn't out of my 5R 1/9 20 inch barrel. So I ended up increasing performance and it has shot so many loads very well, oh what a gun. We get 2,979 FPS and was able to hit the mile at 27.5 mils if my memory serves me.

I would imagine your Tikka will shoot any decent SMK's or FGMM ammo lights out. Good luck with you new beast.

That's Awesome, thanks for using my Cheek Riser... I do mold them skinnier, so you might only need 1/8" washers on both sides, or thinner.

Looks like you've sold it though.

Thanks for sharing...
