Anyone care to check my math before I spend some cash?
Right now my rifle has a cheap (don't laugh, I bought it this way) Tasco mounted up. My current measurements are:
Clearance from objective bell to barrel: .1" Top of picatiinny rail to bottom of scope tube: .21" Objective outside diameter: 1.84" Scope tube diameter: 1"
My Nightforce measures:
Objective O.D.: 2.31" Tube diameter: 1.18"
The current center height of my tasco as it sits in the rings is .71" over the rail. (.21" plus half the tube O.D.) To accommodate the larger objective I need to move up .235" (2.31"-1.84"=.47" divided by 2 = .235") .71" + .235" = .945"
It looks to me like I need 1" high rings.
Sorry for the long version. I've never bought rings for a bolt gun before.
