tikka ?

Re: tikka ?

I have had a few and they as well as the few others I have shot have all been tack drivers, 1/2" group guns with just a little experimenting with loads or factory ammo

same barrel as a Sako, same basic trigger group

some people don't like the plastic parts such as the mag and trigger guard or the fact that they are all essentially a long action, but you rarely hear anyone complain about accuracy

Re: tikka ?

Tikka IMO have the best out of box accuracy for any rifle on the market right now. I have not shot a 270 but do have a 223,243,6.5x55, and a 30-06, and all shoot 3/4" or less. I am going to be picking up a tikka in 204 ruger next week, and would be very surprised if it shoots over a 1/2". Just my .02

Re: tikka ?

I have personally shot a couple and know of a couple that friends own them and every one of them have been MOA or better with factory ammo. They feed from the magazine smoother than any factory gun I have laid my hands on lately. I haven't bought a factory rifle in a long time but I just might buy one of these in a 7-08 for a light weight beat around hunting rifle.

7-800 yards. For paper? Steel plates? .270 is a fine round. Game? Go with your screen name instead.

Re: tikka ?

I love my Tikka T3 270 WIN. It is loud as hell. I get asked allot at the range what I am shooting. The action is smooth. The trigger is pretty nice for a stock, unmodified trigger. It took me about 150 rounds to break it in though. By this I mean it coppered up badly for the first 150 rounds - now it hardly collects any copper at all. Accuracy is with 1" at 100 yards but it likes certain loads (100gr Barnes TTSX with 58gr H4350) and (130gr Nosler Combined with 52.8gr H4350).

Re: tikka ?

I have a T3 Varmint in .308 Win. Its my first fullbore rifle and serving me well. I was out with it on Saturday at 300 yards; heres a picture of the best target of the day:

Worst group was 2"/0.65moa - pretty consistent in my book! This is with hand loads. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a Tikka in any calibre

Re: tikka ?

IMO, the Tikka T3 series is the best factory rifle out there. All of the one's I have shot and done load work up for were tack drivers.
If you can drive the rifle well, the 270 Win is more than capable for long range shooting. I have taken it to 1K out of a factory Howa, and it did ok. From 700 and in, it did great, but opened up some when I got beyond 800. This was with the 135 SMK. If you can seat the bullet close to the lands, the Berger VLD's would be awesome in it. Otherwise, I'd look at the 135 SMK or the Hornady 140 or 150 grain SST. The 140 SST would probably be a better choice, since the 150 SST has only a slight gain in BC, and you can push the 140 faster.

Re: tikka ?

thanks to all for the info i am excited about sending some down range with this new stick. in the end it will be a hunting rifle and nothing more but should do a good job of that by the way you guys talk.

Re: tikka ?

I had a stainless barrel Tikka t3 in 6.5x55, Id prefer the black barrel but thats just an aesthetic thing for me, Best rifle I ever owned, sorry I got rid of it

Re: tikka ?

I have a stainless T3 in 270WSM and it shoots lights out. Have taken it out to 1000 with ease with 135SMKs, but don't really need it for that much distance. Great factory gun to hunt with --- everything out to 400 to 500 is easy to keep tight. Kicks like a mule without the suppressor on. Wish someone would run some 270 bullets with better BCs however.
