Gunsmithing Timing a trigger: is it a big deal?

I have a new Defiance Machine action and a CG Jackson trigger. There is a noticeable click when closing the bolt and I think it is a trigger timing issue. Is this a big deal or an easy fix? Are there any safety concerns involved with timing it properly?
