I thought these were drop-in, now I'm seeing some posts about them requiring inletting. I don't want to cut on my gun - does anyone know if a new A3G will require inletting to accept a timney?

Re: Timney trigger and FN SPR

How did you like the trigger on your old A3G? That was just a new spring from the hardware store, some fiddling with the preload, and a bunch of benchtop reliability testing... pretty easy to get the winnie 2-lever feeling pretty good I think.

I'm sorry about the chrome lining on your old one, and sorry for the hassle it was. I was glad to see FNH took care of you and made things right!

Re: Timney trigger and FN SPR

I had a Timney in a First Gen Spr that I got rid of a while ago so I am going off a distant memory. I installed the Timney with a DBM from a newer SPR on that rifle and when I did so, I had to break of the dremel and clearance the hole in the top of the bottom metal where the trigger goes through. The trigger shoe itself sits further back relative to the triggerguard. You would not notice unless you took the rifle apart. I have no idea how this will translate to a hinged floorplate BM in an A3G.

That said. I have had great success with the Rifle Basix trigger, but all they really are is an "easier to adjust" stock type trigger...that said, they are super easy to set up.

But, as said above, I suggest you play around with the stock trigger before wasting $$$ and time on a new trigger.

Re: Timney trigger and FN SPR

I just could not get that creep out, so I put a Timney in. Required a little relieving to get it to fit, but nothing serious. Works like a champ.

Interestingly enough - the bottom metal on my old A3G was not bedded, and this one is.
