The movie is a poor substitute for the two series from the late 80's. You will be pleasantly surprised.
There is a stillness to the way its filmed and acted, made over 40 years ago Its was a long time before storytelling this brave made it back on to the small screen. Alec Guinness portrayal of Smiley is fantastic.

Trivia: when Vladimir Lenin lived in london, he lived on Percy Circus - as Le Carre was using The Circus as his name for the security services, he took the names of several of the major characters from the names of the streets that abut Percy Circus.

I’m a big fan of the film, but the series is just next level. Up there as one of the greatest spy flicks ever produced!
