I am not a materials speciailist, just a high power rifle enthusiast. Does anyone have any experience with titanium actions?
1. Do they hold up or have issues with steel bolt lug locking, lugging and bearing surface demonstrating accelerated wear? I imagine heat treat, alloy composition and surface treatments could change wear.
2. Any recommended alloy or surface coating recommendations used for these issues?

Hi,

FWIW..Titanium has pretty bad wear resistance.....that is why the aerospace world has spent and continues to spend millions of dollars in creating and testing surface film lubricants geared specifically for Titanium.

Sincerely,
Theis
