being from a world of glued in actions (benchrest), I have never been concerned with torquing action screws. I have recently read that even with piller bedded actions it is recommended to torque them to 65 lbs. I have torqued my rings and bases for years and thoroughly understand the value associated; I just wonder the value in torquing a piller bedded action. Can I please get some advise.

thanks

Re: Torque for piller bedded action

You did mean 65 inch pounds, did you not?

I would say that one of the prime reasons, other than it's spec, at leat on 700 actions, is repeatability. I've removed and retorqued my primary rifle a couple of times with no change in zero.

Thanks for your response; it makes sense. Yes I did mean inch lbs, I suppose it would be messey at ft-lbs.
