I bought a G19 and a two-piece zip together suit just for carrying IWB on the street. My local track lets you zip them and treat it as a one piece if the pieces individually have the safety certifications and configuration. The reality though, is that I never carry it while riding because it still really sucks to do. I use a car for everything and the bike is leisure, I should've just gotten the one-piece suit tbh.
Good call on the race star helmet, loved the vision and features on mine but it doesn't fit my half Slavic face well at all. I'm looking at an Arai I fell in love with at the store, I've put it on the backburner for winter though. I already replaced my chain and sprockets, fluids, still need to do brake pads and pay some poor soul to do my fork oil before buying anything new.
I live 10 minutes from my local track, been going insane trying not to ride my bike this winter. I'm very fucking jealous right now, I have two inches of snow in my backyard at the moment. That bike ain't too bad, either.

It has been a while for me, but do they still require, all glass safety taped or removed, nuts safety wired and breathers in recovery bottles?
I thought about the two peice, but I will be doing some COTA track days this year, and that shit approaches near light speed, pretty sure I will be coming off a few times at triple digit this season, ,,,, looking to get my race license this year or early next year, I want to get into the race circuit before I start falling apart too much. This Race Star is a badass helmet, still waiting on the transition lens, I have them on my other Bells. you should try changing out the cheek pieces to different sizes before you drop a grand on a Arai.
I only carry when I am riding my Harley and know I will be crossing paths with 1%ers as I dont play their game at all and some of them take it the wrong way.
This bike only has 3k miles on it, Texas miles so its pretty straight here, plus the cops get all pissy when they clock you over 120, then expect you to stop. Will have a new R6 before the summer arrives but this BMW S1000RR is pretty badass.

Yeah I will be taping and safety wiring everything, remove mirrors etc. I dont have a recovery bottle but you gotta have glycol free coolant.
Gonna get a 19 R6 and dedicate it as my track bike, keep this one for funning around with the popo.

One-piece suit is far superior for the track for sure, any two piece is really just an overdone street kit imo. I just got my own bike last year so I'm not really pushing shit at the moment. Spent the change saved on the suit to get a proper steering damper. I'll probably get a dedicated track suit when/if I move up a group.

I've wanted an S1000RR forever, it's been a huge Isle of Man TT success but a lot of normal folks don't know what they are because it's not a MotoGP team and all. The R6 is nice, would fit in with the whole space age race tech the RR has got going on.

yep s22's not slicks, will be running teh new model s22 in slick mode on the s1krr
I have buyers remorse on the 18 S1K RR since the 19 was announced, it will do 215 mph out of the box, check it out. I got this custom fit suit for $800, its not top of line but good enough for me, MAAS suits here in Texas gets them made and shipped over off season. I will watch the TT before I die.
You'll probably have tons of fun.
A good friend of mine used to competitively race the bike circuit in CA back when he was young & did well at it.
He went down quite a few times at high speed but no major injuries.
According to him crashing on the track is not nearly as dangerous as what happens to you on the street.

I haven’t ridden the new r6 but the past few generations are awesome. Usually folks will be faster on the 600 than the 1000’s so good call on the dedicated track r6if you plan to go regularly.
I used to do 20 to 30 track days a year. Mainly Barber and little talladega with a few at road Atlanta mixed in. It’s been many years ago though. A bad hip and mainly a daughter got me away from it. I do miss the rush.

have only done a few in Fla at PBIR, always wanted to do more but did enough street racing with my sport bike crew in Miami, the only guy over 30 and the only white guy out of 40 or so members there, Fun times.
I will own the new generation in two years, I dont wanna bring it up til after I get the wife on board with the R6, she already thinks I have too many bikes...
Well I made it through the track day,,,40 degrees, cold and tires snotty, max speed for me was 156mph, was a good day

Heard it was cold down there. I mean it was -8 here the other morning, but we are able to handle cold. 40F in Austin and they talk about how quickly hypothermia sets in.....

was mid 30s and sleeting on drive down friday night,,, warmed up tto 40 and track kind of dry, grip a little snotty so didn't push it, max speed in rain ode was 156 for me on the day.. we only ride in 20 minute sets, being that I am a yankee by birth I am immune to cold, the natives were fucking freezing though, wehn heart is [umping hard you dont get too cold. Looking forward to COTA full on race mode... man I cant wait,,,,, I was actually laughting out loud to myself dam near every exit of every turn,,,, like shooting a 50 cal or M60 the first time,,, everytime

Similar to any high adrenaline sport. The giggles almost get ya.
I never did the motorcycle thing. Pretty sure i would have loved it though. I did a 23 second mile driving my friends 74 chevelle once. On a bike that speed would be addictive.
