Treating a K9 wounded in line of duty

A vet friend of mine shared this story with me. I thought it was worth posting.

My shop manages the Working Dogs in this part of Iraq and I sometimes get to train/play with them. These dogs do great things for us both deployed and stateside and are frequently killed or wounded on the job. Shadow got lucky.

I always tell Lori, I come to read the gun sights for the guns and the dog pictures and stories. Sometimes I'm not sure which comes first.

For the LEO and Shadow, may the story of Rainbow Bridge be true.

It may be of interest to some that Officer Brent Long, Shadow's handler, attended our basic observer/sniper course in May of this year.

I had the honor to meet Officer Long and Shadow and I feel for his family. He was a outstanding Officer and a excellent K-9 Handler and will be mised greatly in that Department and community. It was good to see that the last I had heard Shadow was going to live out the rest of his days with the Long family as it should be.
