I just bought a new trg 22 and was thinking of switching it to the krg-aics mag conversion, before I bought more pricy sako mags. I already have a few aics mags but could use a few more. I have tried finding more info about it but not much luck. Has any one here tried them and what is your thoughts? Any input would be of help. Thanks.

I haven't tried the conversion but cant see any benefit other then the cost per mag. The trg feeds faster and smoother then any other system ive used. At least in 308. The aics 223 plastic mags are nice.

My thoughts are that if I buy one more sako mag the cost would be within $60 of the cost of conversion, but i need two more. I have heard of a guy that had trouble with sako mags.

The conversion kit is great, very well made, and works like a champ. I ended up with another TRG and switched both back to the factory mags so mine now sits in the closet. If you are interested buying a nice used one drop me a PM.

It sounds like you guys prefer the stock mags. Have you had any problems with the sako mags failing? A very experienced guy that has ran a sako for a while told me of some of the week points of the trg this weekend at a match. And the mags were one of them.

I never had an issue. Only thing I did was file a small bevel on the front mag plate so the cases do not snag. But I do that with AW mags as well, so... It would be cool if AW mags fitted, but I don't think they are long enough and they are double-stack.

The TRG mags are one of the more well-made mags out there. However they do have problems from time to time. We have one that only holds 9 rounds, and another for the 300WM that wouldn't feed until we tweaked on it a bit, but we've seen AI mags not run great and have different dimensions for the various parts of the mag. The conversion kit was aimed more for guys who wanted/had many AICS mags, but they do not feed as smooth in the TRG as the factory Sako mags. You can find the TRG mags on sale for around $170 sometimes now.
