Trigger adjustment on 700 VTR

I just purchased a 700 VTR in .308 (new). It was listed as having the Xmark trigger system, but there is no adjustment screw on the underside of the trigger. Does anyone know if certain models come w/o an adjustable trigger, or did I get ripped off here?

Re: Trigger adjustment on 700 VTR

Is it a smooth trigger shoe?

You probably got an x-mark, not the x-mark pro.
They are not a bad trigger, provided you do not go too light.

Somewhere around 3 pounds is the limit, if you go lighter, they become very inconsistent.

ONLY adjust the pull weight on the x mark. Use some fingernail polish remover to take the thread locker off the screw, back it out slightly. Once you have it adjusted, put some polish on the screw to hold it in place.
I recommend a trigger pull scale, you don't need an expensive one, I believe RCBS makes one for less than 20 bucks.

Edit: fixed some of my fat fingered typo's

The new new X mark pro also has a smooth shoe, but I am unsure of the 40X. I thought you might have gotten one with the 40X.

The x mark and pro are pretty much the same trigger, it is just a matter of convienence.

Oh ok, so I guess I have the model I keep reading about (the one that you have to remove the action and the factory glue to adjust it, three different screws) I just thought everything new had the external adjustment option.

Re: Trigger adjustment on 700 VTR

Don't mess with the other two screws.

They are sealed with some pretty heavy duty crap and require heating to loosen.

Only adjust the pull weight.

Very good advice about the other two screws I know from experience.
