I've got a PT&G one piece bolt in a Rem700 action that I had trued and when I installed a Timney trigger, the sear drags along the bolt body. I'm going to remove a little material so that there is no felt drag. Is this common? Or should I left it alone? It does function as is, but I think the drag might be detrimental to accuracy.

Re: Trigger to bolt interference

I have run into this a few times.
The standard remington bolt is around 0.696" diameter.
When you go to a 0.703" diameter bolt, things tighten up.

What I do is surface grind the top of the sear until there is no more dragging.
It usually only takes a few thousandths to fix it up nicely.
You could even do it with a dremel if you were comfortable with such tasks.

The dragging is not detrimental to accuracy.

Thanks Randall. Just for peace of mind. This is the second PT&G bolt I've used , but the first with any interference.
