I was wondering if anybody knows if the Trijicon magnifier, the 3x that appears to screw in and not clip on, is compatible with the Reap or the Hunter series?

If so does this triple the native mag and leave the same resolution? But at same time reducing FOV by 1/3?

It screws in to a pressure clip which clips on to the focus ring of the ir-patrol.

For the patrol it reduces FOV by about half ... and increases the magnification by 3x.

In my experience it moves if you try to shoot it and POI shifts by feet at 100yds ... so not practical for shooting only for observing. And AFAIK only works for Patrol, though with a different mount/adaptor could work for some other thermals.

And to be clear, here is the one I think you're talking about ...

That’s it. I just saw the threads inside the Reap models and was hoping it screwed in but I guess it doesn’t and won’t work. Just trying to find a more elegant solution to the PVS30. UTC appears to be the only other real option. And no idea where to look for one of those or if one could be found for a reasonable price.

Wait for SHOT
1. Maybe we will hear more about a new n-vision optics oasys cored tc-50-ish critter
2. Maybe we will hear if trijicon will restart utc production
3. Maybe we will hear if lwts-lr will be released and if we can buy them

If u are desperate call Kathleen Hansen at pr-infrared and see if u can still get a flir t75 ... Or guy blocker at flir direct ...

Utc r unobtainium right now ... Above r the options I know of for 8x plus capable thermal clipons ...

Also depends on your definition of "elegant" !!! :)

The PVS-22 is pretty "elegant" in ergonomics departemt ... smaller, lighter than the PVS-30 ... and just as useful for inside 500yds. It is less elegant in the economics department.

The SIMRAD might be slightly less elegant in the ergonomics department .. but very elegant in the finance department and the image department.

The LWTS and the SNIPE can get up to 6x for sure ... so elegant out to 300yds on yotes ...
