First post here in the Optics section. I have searched for advice on this scope, but haven't found anything.

So, here's the questions:

The Brits are using a Trijicon TA648 with their LMT MWS (.308) that they are fielding, or at least were with the last magazine articles I've seen. Is anyone running this type of optic? What are the advantages/disadvantages over other (more traditional...?) scopes? Can you still run backup iron sights?

It is my understanding that the Brits are using these scopes because they have so many of them in inventory and used them as a means of saving money. The biggest advantage I can see is in the quality of the design, construction and dim light capability. If this addresses your needs and the reticule matches the ammo you will be using then it may not be a dab choice. (As I understand it the Brits have two Radway Green 155 grain loads, a standard ball loading and a match loading.) The down size is the weight and expense. I wanted versitility on my LMT MWS and went with the SWFA SS 3-9X42. I offers a lot in a DMR role. No parrallax adjustment to slow you down, mildot for ranging and .1 mil adjustments. I've got two of them, the other is on a M1A NM. Do a search, I think you'll find they are pretty popular. Lowlight also has a review on it
