trimble nomad 800L 128/1G

I just picked up one of these platforms to run a ballistics program on -I should stop getting what lowlight has or my wife will surely divorce me !
Question which is the better program for me to get -patagonia or Feild firing solutions -input much appreciated .

I am jealous. Either one take your pick. I would just check the layout and decide the one you like the best. They are both very good.

I know Frank has FFS -pATAGONIA -eXBAL on his nOMAD unit I believe .
I would like to use one -Patagonia is a much better price than FFS and has been spoken highly of but then some others RAVE about FFS! I do have a Kestral I can plug into the units but not a LRF and cant see selling my Swaro and spending what I dont have on a more upper end LRF .

Both are excellent programs, FFS is more geared towards the Military, while LB3 is a bit more of a complete solution.

It has a lot of the same features, and some that FFS doesn't have. Gus really supports the program with updates almost monthly adding bullets to the library along with other features that are upgraded very easily. He does a great job servicing the program, where you have to go looking for any changes to FFS.

Plus LB3 has some great features for reloading and analyzing that most other programs don't have.

I like them both, but when I have no clue about something I always use LB3, as FFS requires you to know ahead of time in most cases.

what program of LoadBase ---Desktop or Mobile edition goes on the nomad

When you buy it you get both, but the Mobile is the one for you Trimble.
I can also vouch for updates with Gus. I sent him all of my .50BMG and .50DTC data and he included all of it on an update within a week or so after he verified my data.

Frank , how do you run both on the Nomad ? , is it on the same card or seperate memory ?

FFS is run from a memory card and LB3 is installed on the nomad and run from internal storage or memory.

I like FFS for ease of use. There's an SD card slot in the top of the Nomad for the FFS SD card. Although I do like FFS as a program, having it on an SD card (with all the problems associated with SD cards) and being unable to load it into the computer does make it a pain sometimes.

I knoew I shoulda got FFS on SD card and not tried the lb3download and install -help!!

I have installed the desk top version but havent a clue how to get the lb3 program onto the Nomad 800l .I have down loaded the program onto the desk top and run set up but that where it all goes wrong --please guide me
