Havent seen much on these, but they look like they could give the SAGE stocks a run for their money finally... I really want one.

Re: Troy CAR 14

Did he mention a 12 inch barrel? I just believe the market for average people willing to pay the $200 tax stamp for a short barreled M1A is not that large. You'll find many more people willing to pay that fee for a short barreled AR variant due to their versatility. As for the law enforcement and military applications, If you can bring a suppressed 7.62 to the fight at under 8 pounds their may be some potential there. It may be an uphill battle trying to convince people why this weapon system is better than any AR variant though.

Re: Troy CAR 14

I am more interested in the chassis system than their new gas block and 12" barrel. Hopefully they will sell the chassis system and not just the complete package. What remains to be seen is whether their system requires their proprietary gas block. My hope is that a USGI equivalent would still work in the system. But it looks like with 6" of barrel for a scout version they could make this a 10-12lb rifle loaded. (I have no idea what 6" of extra M1A barrel weighs) I am curious to see what the cost of these is going to be.

Re: Troy CAR 14

The Troy Industries CAR-14 barrel length is 12.5 ". As such, the CAR-14 barrel is too short to use the traditional/legacy M14 gas system. On a USGI M14 barrel, the gas port is 13.297 " from the barrel shoulder. The USGI dimension operating rod and gas piston are too long to allow a means of securing the front end of the CAR-14 stock.

You can get a Scout/SAGE CQB EBR down to about 10-11 lbs loaded
with some accessories installed. A SOCOM can be a little lighter.
