So after looking for almost a year in my area for specific powders for 223, I gave up and decided to try this 1200-r.
On alliants website they say 22.9 grain is max load
Alliant Powder - Power Pro 1200-R
[span style='color: red;']Link made hot. AeroE[/span]
when I found an old thread here, someone said they pushed it to 23.5 with no pressure signs. So I tried that and finally got under a one inch group. The gun is a stag 3g with an 18" barrel.
Now according to alliants page above, they are getting 3300fps with 22.9gr. When I was at 23.5, the highest I saw was 2895. Granted they had 6"on the barrel, but that doesn't seem right.
Granted I just picked up some magnum small rifle primers, so I need to work it again, but something doesn't seem right. Who knows, maybe there wasn't enough sunlight for my chrono.
Has anyone else used this powder successfully with a 55gr pill?
