Trying to decide on ammo

Since you guys helped me figure out my magneto speed I was out playing today. Used a sensitivity setting of 6 except for on sk rifle match. It was about 100 fps slower so I had to increase it to 8. Cz455, yo Dave spring, lilja 21” barrel, krg bravo and a form 1 suppressor.
Ammo. Sd. Ed. Avg
Cci sv. 22.2. 80. 1036
Wolf mt. 23.6. 85. 1052
Eley club. 17.4. 54. 1045
Sk rifle match. 29.1. 102. 950

Was shooting from a bench at 100. Granted my shooting is lacking lately I’ve been busy for quite awhile so just getting back into it. But the eley did shoot the best at 1.6” 10 shot group. With out going crazy expensive is there another ammo that might hold a tighter velocity range? Also gotta hang some lighter gongs on my range. The 1/2” plates weren’t making a sound or budging.

I would try Eley match. I would also expect a smaller SD from a lilja barrel.

My Vudoo with those same ammo gets sds in the 15s.

Center-X in the 8-10.

Eley match in the 6-7
I debated with myself to by a vudoo but decided to build what I had. Still wish I would of bought a vudoo. I’ll order some and give it a try. Thanks

I have no help to offer but a question.

Which magnetospeed did you use with your suppressors? I’m looking to get the sporter model but can’t find if it’s compatible with a 22 suppressor.

If you have the time and cash, try them all.
If nothing else it'll give you an excuse to visit the range and use y'er chronograph.
If that doesn't interest you, then the quick answer is try the best offerings
from Eley, SK/Lapua, RWS and Fiocchi Italia. Those are the four companies
that actually manufacture 22lr intended for precision shooting.
All the rest make bulk hunting and plinking ammo. It really is that easy. ;)

Your gun sucks those SD are terrible. I just cracked a brand new case of sk rifle match yesterday and first 20 shots.

Ordered some eley match this afternoon. Luckily the range is just outside the door. I can get to 600 at my place and 1400 at the buddies a few miles away

Or sk rifle match is so inconsistent that yours is 100 fps than mine lol. Nice rifle, I should of just bought the damn vudoo
I started with a CZ455 lilja combo. Shot ok but then I got a vudoo. It shoots better. Especially at 100-200 yards. However, our last monthly match was won by a guy with a stock CZ 455….

Yea man they are nice. Something is wrong with the chrono or gun if the velocity is that low. That ammo is tested to a level that should not happen. It may not shoot lights out in every gun but that low velocity and high SD means something else is probally wrong.

I think the chrono is on. The group shot noticeably lower than the other 3 brands that were a 100fps faster.

Variations in muzzle velocity and spread on target are normal for all rimfire production.
Testing at the factory is done by statistical sampling. A small number of cartridges are actually tested.
Labeling is based on those few cartridges actually tested, leaving a good probability of error.
Even the top brands of 22lr are susceptible to bricks that show velocity caused spread
and odd strays caused by factory related defects in components and assembly.
That's why batch testing before purchasing is so important. Welcome to the assembly line lottery.
We pays our money...we takes our chances. Some batches are better than others.

When testing ammunition, don't shoot groups, don't average.
Groups lie to you. They hide problems.
Shoot for score, the better the ammo, the better the score.
Easiest method to compare results I've found.

Josh, the Grid is only for those that are gluttons for punishment.
Y'er gonna need a tendency for masochism
to watch what happens for 50 consecutive shots,
when y'er supposed to hit what ya' aim at. ;)

This is actually 500 shots, I was lot testing some RWS not shooting for groups. Well I was but I wasn’t if that makes sense. I had a point of aim but wasnt super concerned with everything being right. Some of those had SD’s of 5 and some has SD’s of 18 over the 50 shots per lot. At 50 yards it’s really hard to tell just by the target..I always buy two boxes of a lot, shoot 50 for chrono at 50, then 25 at 100 then 25 at 200..if you do that then is gets pretty clear which is the best lot..
