I had a BAT Tactical action laying around forever, so I had Travis @ TS Customs (www.tscustom.com) put together this sweet 22BR for me. This thing sure has potential. Here's the rifle and some results with the first firing on virgin lapua 6BR necked down to 22. Using a very mild load early on here to just get some time on the barrel. I'll step on it a bit after it's broke in and see what it's capable of.

    Beautiful isn't it?

    Build list:
    BAT Tactical
    McMillan A3A (Red 80%, White 10%, Black 10%)
    20" Benchmark 8 twist MTU
    Hawkins DBM
    Timney 517
    22cal Thunderbeast Ultra-7

Cute little things. Our 6BR AICS kits ensure reliable feeding. ... of course I needed a red set for this rifle. :)

Not very fast... but as I said, I'm running a mild load. Sure shoots well.

This guy showed up when I was experimenting with load. Took an 80gr attitude adjuster right in the noggin. A reward for digging a hole in my lawn.

Very fine looking rifle. Groups look very promising as well. What bullet/powder you plan on doing load development with?

Sweet looking rifle,Travis makes some good looking eye candy.I am looking forward to getting my build from him.

Very nice.. what do you expect for barrel life with Varget and 80's?

That's mild for a 223 lol. Crank it to 3200! It will be broken in after shot 10.

Killer build. Been playing around with the same thing in my head. Wondering if this magazine kit would work well with the 22 Nosler case as well?

Seems like a cool caliber. You plan on sticking with the 80gr Bergers? How heavy could you go with that twist rate?

Dang, that's sexy as all heck!!

Super cool looking little round. I'm currently weighing building a Varmint rig from a Tikka T3 action myself.... thinking heavy barrel fast twist ".22 Terminator" developed down here.

It should run 75 ELD-M over 3K and runs off a .204 case.

Here is one in action running 65gr game kings https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTlB...QlY9BvJdBZmtnw

It's like the ultimate 22-250 with better barrel life and the ability to reach out further. I know there is .243 for that, but again, the powder charge is significantly less!

Pretty sure you had "Just enough gun" for that little critter there boss!!

Correct me if im wrong, but the 204 ruger is based off of the 222 Rem Mag. So if all your doing is necking up the 204 to a 22 cal... its right back to the 222 Rem Mag. Right? I didnt see where they changed the shoulder angle or anything else.

Hey great minds think alike. Except mine's built on a salvage. :(

I was thinking the same thing.

204 with 55 grain Bergers would be a better solution.

I'd still do that 22 BR rather than 222mag or 223AI, it's just that Greg's rifle has a 20" and his load is light.

There is a thread on that somewhere. I'll try and find the exact specs but that question was asked and I'm sure I read there is a different angle.

The 222 Rem mag has a longer neck and different shoulder angle resulting in a smaller case capacity & therefore less performance according to the info from Terminator Products.
    The photo as follows...
    17 Hmr, 222(50sp), 223(53 Vmax), 22 Terminator (75 Amax), 22-250(50 Vmax), 243(80 Gmx)

I see where you coming from if the shoulder angle is different or the neck it. But dont confuse the 222 for the 222 Rem MAG. TWO DIFFERENT ANIMALS. My dad has a 222 Rem Mag, his first high power rifle. He bought it while he was in high school, late 60s. It is a shooter.

    I hear ya.

I'm just keen on a "long range" .22 caliber that doesn't kill the barrel really.
The youngest is mad keen on shooting now and I want him to be able to increase his range and still be able to place shots on small targets as well as he can without the rifle limiting his learning.

We are currently using a Tikka 8 twist .223 and that can be modified into the .22 Terminator so it's looking good. Dies are relatively inexpensive and powder cost would be minimal compared to my .243

I hear yeah there!! Im wanting the same thing really. I picked up a Defiance action with a 308 bolt face. So im going the 22 BR route. Great accuracy and velocity. Going with 24" 1/9 twist barrel. Should be easy on barrel life as well. I was going the 22-250 route but after some research on the BR... It just seems like the right thing to do!

How do you like the BR with a barrel that short? I was considering a 223AI and the 22BR, what is trade off in barrel life vs speed?

I'm liking it so far. I still have a lot more testing to do on this thing though. I don't know where it's going to top out on speed. I don't have a lot of long barrel traditional rifles. I have a 16" 223AI also. I enjoy it as well.

Orkan... Do you turn necks on this or simply size and shoot? Also what dies are you running? I'm seriously thinking about throwing one together...
