Ok im sorry but that thick recoil lug looks cool( and i have it on hand)....I have one of Jims Briggs recoil lugs to go on my new Brux 280 Rem.
My question is will a tubbs recoil lug from REMM. fit on my savage 112? If it will how do i keep the lug Straight? because it does not have the pin in it like the Nothland lug does. Thanks guys.

that'd have to be a hell of a thick lug

Not really, it depends on the length of the threaded tennon, the lug, and the nut itself.

I've seen the tennon length vary by quite a bit depending on if it is factory threaded, aftermarket pre-fit, or gunsmith threaded.

We've already discussed the lug.

Different nuts are threaded differently. Here's a picture of a couple blues and a stainless. If you're using one of those blues, you'll run out of threads and bind up quickly.

See what I mean?

Not if you use a real thick lug and run out of threads on a stainless nut.

I guess the real easy remedy is not to need one. Just use Jim's lug and be done. It will work as well or better than the Tubbs without any modification or remedy.

The head space does not relate to the thickness of a recoil lug on a Savage. When you head space a savage the lug is not tight against the action. Once it is head spaced then the nut is tightened to secure the lug against the action. The only problem you would encounter would be having enough thread to safely secure the barrel to the action. I have used a Badger lug with no problems and they are pretty thick I believe in the .300 range.
