I figure I would do a little write up on the TVC-22i tripod I just purchased. I am a PRS shooter, and have been using the Feisol 3372 tripod, so that is what I have to compare it to. We all know RRS is the top end, but that also comes at a price. I purchased the 3372 due to the price and it being a solid tripod. I felt the Feisol was the best tripod for the money. The Feisol is priced around $570 and the comparable RRS is around $1300. The TVC-22i can be purchased for $860 shipped, which is a much closer to the Feisol, and gets you into a USA product, and a PRS designed product.
The tripod is a two piece design with inverted legs, same design as a inverted motorcycle forks. This allows the height adjustments to be controlled closer to the shooter. It also keeps the sliding portions out of the dirt or mud when collapsed.
For me, being 6'3", the tripod is pretty good in a kneeling position. For a seated position, would have to take the legs into the 2nd lock position, at least 2 of the legs. The tripod is very solid, and the fit and finsh is perfect.
Here are some comparioson pictures to a my Feisol 3372 ( which will be up for sale in a little).
For my needs a a PRS shooter I have not seen much downside to the 2 piece design. Only issue is since the legs are inverted, the leg tension spinners are opposite, so having to relearn how to twist to lock and unlock. I do like the extra weight. With the ANVIL-30 mounted, is is a little too tall for me, but I will take a little too tall then too short.
