I know alot of the 20" and under 308s are running a 10 twist. Are there any negatives or positives to using it with 22-24" barrels? I would say the 175s would be the primary bullet but 155 scenars wouldnt be unheard of.
1/10 twist rotates the round faster as it moves down the barrel. This increased rotation not only provides additional stability to the round's travel but also provides a small amount of resistance to wind deflection.
Most modern manufactured bullets would be fine at an extended barrel with 1:10 twist but why do you need that much rotation? You CAN actually over-rotate the bullet at which point you lose stability in flight.
If you are going with a longer barrel, consider using 1/11 twist.
