I'm shooting and loading for two AR's with 1:8 Twist. Now that I've gotten rather serious anout accuracy; quick question?
Not getting the sub MOA groups with 52 gr. Bergers from Blk Hills with my 1:8 twist. Would a heavier bullet stabilize better at 100 yrds with that twist rate? Have Nosler 69 gr. Competitions ready to load. The box note says 1:9 only?? Found the note strange.

Re: Twist Rates and Stability

don't know about ARs, but i shoot everything from 55 Vmax to 75 grain Amax from my 8" twist bolt gun. the Nosler 69s shoot fine from 8" twists.

Re: Twist Rates and Stability

My 1:9 twist Bushmaster didn't like any 50g Vmax's or 75g TAP ammo but the 69g SMK shot really well. Try them. So, yes, a heavier bullet should stabilize. 55 grainers should shoot well too
