I am considering moving to a 208 or 210 bullet in my .300WM. The barrel is a RC 11.25 and it hammers 190's. Will the 11.25 twist rate stabilize the 208-210 class bullets? I generally shoot from 850-1000. The only reason to move up is obviously for B/C and all round better exterior ballistics. I can adjust velocity as needed for stabilization. Thanks for the replys.

That twist will do just fine. I've seen many 300WM shooters with that twist and shooting 208Amaxs among others.

300wm. velocities do better at stabilizing the longer projectiles than.308 bbls. You should be ok, but I would test a small number first before buying in large quantities. I havn't tested the 208 grainers in depth. however, the word is beyond 500yds is about the extent of the accuracy range of that bullet. they did not work for me in my .308 at 1000yds. velocity plays a role in the b.c. of bullets.

I had a GAP Crusader in .308 that shot the 208's with incredible accuracy. Most I ever shot was 529 yards and it was about 1 1/2" group. Only had a 22" bbl with a 1:11.25 twist.
I now have a custom 28" bbl 1:11.25 that shoots the 208's just fine also. Is slinging them at 2650 fps. And shoots 1/3 moa most of the time. You'll most likely be fine.

I have 2 win mags. One is a Rem 700 5R MILSPEC w/ a 26" bbl. it LOVES the 208 amax over 76 to 77 grains of H1000, and 72.5 grains of Reloader 22. Also found a really good load ( extremely FAST) with PP4000mr. 72.4 grains has me at 3,000 fps from a 26" bbl!! RP brass and fgm215 primers. Kind of a hotter load though.

74 degrees w/ oheler 35p at 20 ft.
77.0 H1000- 2900 fps
72.5 R22- 2920 fps
72.4 Pp4000- 3,000
Most accurate load was the h1000 that day. But last summer I shot some groups at 500 with the 4000 mr load that were unbelievable.
You may want to also try the 200 Berger.
My load for it is 78.0 h1000 , Nosler brass, fgm215. It shoots 1/3 moa at 100. I'm guessing its in the upper 2900's. 2980 to 2990 fps.

Tagged and question..

I'm wondering the same thing as I am planning a 300wm build. Not sure which bullet grain I want to shoot.. I have a 260 rem and the reason I want a 300wm is for the knockdown power and longer range.

But can't decide on bullet grain and twist.. Will get a 27-29" barrel to maximize powder burn and no plans for suppressor. Any suggestions because all I know was 1:10...

I've got a 30" Broughton 5c 1:10 built for the 230 and 215 Berger. It shoots lights out and I'm thinking the 230 hybrid is the longest ? (maybe the Sierra 240). The 230 hybrid averages 1.660". My 1:10 stabilizes it just fine and according to QL, I'm getting a full powder burn just shy of the crown.
