Great Stuff, sweet spirits of niter, corrosive sublimate hell yea!! They had some crazy names for chemicals back in the day.

When I was around 12 years old I was big into chemistry, back then they had cool chemistry sets (we were not stupid fucks like the kids now)
If it did not come from somebody's mom you did not eat it.

I lived in NYC and around the corner was a hobby store that sold all kinds of chemicals in small one or two ounce jars for chemistry sets, they had everything.

Use Hammered Bronze spray paint, otherwise,
buy a bottle of Birchwood Casey Plum Brown and follow the instructions.
That stuff your reading in the book is highly toxic and dangerous to mix/use without full lab and respiratory protection.

I listed it because it is “the official US Govt formula”. Yes there are easier products to use but they are not the original finish. Also, there are hide members who are in the process of rebuilding large artillery pieces and may not want to buy 1k bottles of the stuff
