Unknown Mauser

My co-worker has an old mauser actioned gun that we can't figure out what it is. The gun has no serial number or caliber marking. The only marking on it is on the but plate. There is a M with a W superimposed on it with fancy scroll work all around the mw. Got any clue what it is?

Its a Swede, most likely 6.5x55 if it has not been sporterized

He said the bore is big, thinking 8mm maybe. Gonna try and get some pics on here tomorrow.
