17 May 2020 - Recap of the URSA 3000 Yard Challenge (2020)

Decent weather today, save for the mirage and early sun in the eyes. Chris, Kurt, Lynn, and Mark shot the 3K “intro” gong at 2630 yards but none shot well enough at that distance to move to 3135 yards (needed minimum two shooters with at least 4 in 10 at 2630, had none). That noted, we had two shooters get 7 in 10 at 2080 (the qualification target distance), Mark Liu and Chris Switzer (Stats page updated accordingly - https://www.unlimitedrange.org/stats.html).

Oh…who won? Mark Liu was the Winner and Kurt Stone was the Runner-Up.

Mark was shooting a .300 PRC (yes, really, and SAMMI chamber) built by DMR (Las Vegas), on a Bighorn Origin LA action, with Bartlein 26”, 8:1 twist barrel, MDT ACC chassis, Nightforce 5-25x56 ATACR F1 scope with H59 reticle and ERATAC adjustable base, and Hornady 230 gr A-TIP Match bullets. Added (5/19) - video of Mark shooting 2080, 3 practice and 10 qualification shots -

Kurt was shooting a .375 CT built by DMR (Las Vegas) on a Stiller TAC 408 1.45 action, with Bartlein 32”, 1:8 twist barrel, Mirage ULR chassis, Vortex RAZOR HD Gen II 4.5-27x56 scope with EBR-2C (MRAD) reticle on an Ivey RTM60 60 mil adjustable base/mount, and 377 gr. Cutting Edge MTAC bullets.

Pics in the Gallery (https://www.unlimitedrange.org/gallery.html) – thank you Mark and Bill Wood.

And, of course, a big thank you to all those shooters that honored us with their presence at this (now 4th Annual) URSA 3000 Yard Challenge, especially Lynn Dragoman who was “the helper” in setting the IRIS hit-indication tech and hanging steel (gear and steel which he drove down from NorCal, 8 hours each way). Thanks also to those shooters that helped with the take down. Much appreciated!

Until next year and the (5th Annual) URSA 3000 Yard Challenge…
