As we all are painfully aware, pricing and availability for firearms related goods is challenging right now. I've been watching the used market for a few months now, mostly for parts and components rather than complete firearms, and it seems like everything holds it's value really well
In a lot of cases, it seems like barely 10% less than new unless its really showing lots of wear. Not hating on that, when I am trying to sell something, I'm looking to get as many dollars as I can for it. My question is, is this just a by product of the last 9 months of craziness, or has this been the case with precision rifle parts/components for an extended period of time, say the last 5-10 years? I haven't been watching long enough to have a sense of the used market in years past.
If someone has enough patience (2-10 years probably!) is there a previous baseline that things are likely to trend back to, or is this just LR shooting? There's upside and downside either way. High retained value as the baseline scenario means I pay more, but also run less risk of having to accept half a handful of peanuts and a kick in the balls when I want to sell something. Also makes purchasing new more appealing.
