Afternoon all,
I'm going to follow the advice given here and persue the sako trg 21 which I have been offered.

It's used with 'low round count' but no guarantee on the condition. I don't have a borescope, so I can't inspect in detail. What do you look at/for in a used rifle please?

You could pick up a Teslong Borescope off Amazon pretty cheap for barrel inspections, I have a Gradient Lens Hawkeye so I don’t have any experience with the Teslong but there are several threads on here if you search.

I agree the best thing if you could would be to go shoot it with good ammo like FGMM. Besides looking for obvious signs of abuse, I'd look at the bolt lugs to see that they are wearing smoothly and aren't galled, remove then retorque the scope base screws to make sure they aren't stripped, remove the action screws and pull the action out of the stock to look for corrosion and abuse, reinstall and retorque actions screws. A bore scope would be nice, but even barrels that look lousy could shoot really well, so that might not tell you much other than if the barrel looks clean including the throat area, your probably good.

The factory picatinny scope base might be glued to the receiver, but I would at least remove the screws to make sure they aren't stripped.
