In the market for a new optic for my MK18. I was pretty set on the T2, but It looks like the used T1 market is pretty attractive. I can grab the T1's in the $500 range, lots of time with the mount. Any real reason to move to the T2 from the T1? I have an old H1 that's been bomb proof over the years so I really wanna stick with Aimpoint. I briefly considered the COMPM5, but that top battery compartment looks like a "weak" spot. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I wouldn’t be worried about the ruggedness of any aimpoint. They are bombproof. As far as the battery compartment, aimpoint has been producing optics with the compartment both on the top and the bottom for a long time, without issue. Battery compartments were shit on old EOTechs, not aimpoints. The only concern you should have is running quality batteries, so they don’t leak and corrode.
If you don’t need NV capable settings, there’s not really a need for the T1.

I have had both the T1 and T2. I went to the T2 because I could tell a noticeable difference when looking through them because I have a bad Astigmatism. My buddy that I traded with has good vision and could not tell the difference between the two models side by side. I absolutely could.
