Gunsmithing Using barrel with removed P&W muzzle device?

I removed the welded pin from an AR barrel muzzle device (1/2-28 threads). I used a 5/32 carbide end mill and drilled the pin out pretty cleanly. The drilled hole goes about .030-.040 below the major diameter. It is not drilled radially; it is drilled perpendicular to one of the wrench flats, on the back corner.

I guess I should have found out before I did this, but is there any problem using this barrel, if I use a properly torqued muzzle device on it?

Thanks

Why was the original device pinned and welded?

It's fine.
Your depth of thread is about .021, you're only ten or twenty more below that.
You still have close to .100 wall thickness.
Who even cares? Gas pressure is really fucking low at the muzzle.
